Success is not the key to happiness
Everybody's definition of success can be mapped on a simple grid, with one axis being the amount of money that you have and the other being the amount of happiness in one's life.
Common Definition of Success Actual Definition of Success
Reasons why the latter definition is better than the former:
1. There is no point to being rich if you're not enjoying yourself.
2. You're more likely to become rich if you're happy doing whatever you're doing.
Disclaimer : The above definition is not valid if you're struggling to put food in your mouth and keep a roof over your head because when you're just trying to survive, you don't think about happiness.
Everyone wants to be rich and happy than poor and happy. However, it's easier to get rich if you start from a place of being happy - with what you're doing and why you're doing it.
Unlike fairy tales and novels, where happiness is in the end of the story, real happiness does not come at the end of your story or life. Happiness knocks in your door everyday. But it seems most of you ignore it because you are locked with the thought that happiness is in the end of your journey, only after you achieve all the goals that you want, acquire the wealth that you aspire or found the perfect love you’ve always dream of.
People who are happy tend to be more successful at whatever it is they're doing - for example they have better health, are more productive and have better relationships with others.
Ten interesting comparisons of Success vs. Happiness.
1. Success is a fancy car, happiness is a great ride.
2. Success is private jets, happiness is flying high.
3. Success is measurable; happiness is limitless.
4. Success is working hard, happiness is loving the work.
5. Success is all the money in the world, happiness is having the people to spend it on.
6. Success is the fame; happiness is the rise.
7. Success is calculated; happiness doesn’t need a cheat sheet.
8. Success is earned, happiness is achieved.
9. Success is never easy; happiness is never difficult.
10. Success is pursuing your dreams; happiness is living your dreams.
Happiness is not an end but a journey. Success is a byproduct of happiness - a factor that comes from happiness, derives from it.
Stay happy, stay blessed!

Automation of Motivation - En route to Success
"Success is a
continuous journey embarked on the ship of faith overcoming the obstacles that
come on the go."
So, here is the deal. If
you agree to follow my prescription the way I ask, I'll help you automate your
motivation. And believe me, it won't require a lot of efforts. It will not lead
you to instant success, but it will definitely help you improve yourself every
single day, bringing a feeling of gratification on the go and success in life.
Here are 8 real and
powerful methods that will help you create an "Automated
Motivation System" for yourself. All you need to do is pick a
new method from the list at the start of every week and implement it throughout
the week. Carry forward the methods that have already been implemented to the
next week. At the end of two months, you will find yourself a changed person -
more confident, automatically self-motivated and dedicated on your route to
success.
Identify the Essential
and Eliminate the Rest
Write down 7 things you
need to do and then cross off 4. Choosing the 3 most relevant "Need to
do" things will make the load feel lighter and focus you on focus on the
essentials.
Track your Progress -
Retrospect, Introspect and Act
Keep a tally or a progress
bar for ongoing projects or tasks. Identify the things that are growing and
nurture them. Identify the things that are falling, ponder upon them and work
around to improve them.
30 Seconds Summary -
Moral of the Story
What if after every
meaningful conversation or experience you spent 30 seconds highlighting the
most important ideas? Whether you just watched a compelling movie, had a
passionate conversation, learnt something new from a book or blog post – take
out 30 seconds to write down some big and powerful ideas to hold on to.
Appreciate
"Yourself" - Don't wait for others to do it
Don't be afraid to
reward yourself. Many times you get caught in chasing the big fish and you
forget to savor every bite of the small one. Enjoy and celebrate your journey.
Keep Good Company for
Positive Vibes
Have more encounters
with positive and motivated people. This could be as simple as facebook or
whatsapp chats with peers or a quick discussion with a friend who likes sharing
ideas. Just open up and broaden your horizon.
It's not all about You
Share your ideas and
help others get motivated. Reach out to people through email, facebook,
whatsapp, phone or face to face. Listen closely to someone. Odds are they will
bring up something they are struggling to do or get through. Give them some
time, words and energy that will help them push through it.
Stimulate your Senses
- Watch TED
TED has an outstanding
reputation for a reason. Put a part of the time, you generally spend on
gossiping, to watch TED talks. Watch a TED talk on any topic you desire
and watch your mind sing along and your heart melt.
Slow Down and Take a
Chill Pill
Take breaks from
working. Put on some music and dance. Motion produces emotion. Go for a walk.
Connect with nature, clear your head and relieve stress. Walk away and then
come back, refreshed and rejuvenated.
As you start
implementing these motivational methods in your life, they will become
your "motivational habits". So just get
started, get that momentum going and write your own success story.
Stay happy, stay
blessed!
